Divorce is a matter of concern. There is an increased trend of separation in early years of marriage. It seems that they are not ready to take any shit from men as they are fully independent earning for themselves. I believe, divorces can't just be accounted to a single gender. Earlier we were accustomed to the idea of adjustment from both sides men (maybe more from women than men but still from both sides to some extent) but nowadays i feel people are pretty impatient and ofcourse due to dating culture it has become harder to be monogamous. Earlier there was alot of stigma around Divorces and divorcees thus, people have been reluctant inspite of an unhappy marriage. Nowadays people and more aware about what they want n whar they don't and don't want to be stuck so i feel thats more of a reason.

I'm so tired of Indian men putting Russian women on a pedestal and claiming they are the "ideal wives." If Russian culture produces such perfect marriages, then why are the divorce rates there so high? As an Indian woman, it's frustrating to constantly hear we are inferior while data shows relationships fail everywhere. I wish men would open their eyes to reality instead of buying into these misogynistic stereotypes. @RC_Mayanka

Hi! Hope you are well.. Divorce and it's settlements are not one size fits all.. it's different for different couples and situations. Generally, it shows women receiving alimony as they are not financially independent. But in many other cases it's the women running the house and not the men. To get more authentic information on divorce and it's procedures do consult a lawyer.

My best friend's mom kept her ex-husband's last name after their divorce, even though they didn't have kids.. When a woman gets divorced, how often does she actually go back to using her original maiden name from before she was married? Is it more typical for ladies to keep their ex-husband's last name even after splitting up, or do most change it back to their birth surname? @Relationshipcoachchitkala

Hi, Hope you are well! Keeping the husbands surname depends on a lot of factors such as shared custody of kids, properties, investments, joint business and ventures. Some women keep it and others choose to drop it. Based on their personal situation a decision is made. And in such cases consulting a lawyer is important.

My first cuzn got divorced few months ago and I feel her loneliness. I know somewhere she needs someone, a companion for life. I even told her that you should think about marriage again. She didn't completely deny but was confused. I think she has fear that would anyone want to marry her after divorce. Her fear is geniune and I'm also in delima about this. Is it taboo for women in India to get remarried after divorce or widowhood? @Nazneen

Yes. It is a taboo for divorced or widowed women to get married again in India. I'm completely against this concept that after divorce or death of husband the wife should remain single. I mean why. she also has the right to live her life, to feel loved by someone
