My best friend's mom kept her ex-husband's last name after their divorce, even though they didn't have kids.. When a woman gets divorced, how often does she actually go back to using her original maiden name from before she was married? Is it more typical for ladies to keep their ex-husband's last name even after splitting up, or do most change it back to their birth surname? @Relationshipcoachchitkala

The decision to change or keep one's last name after divorce varies greatly from person to person and is influenced by personal, cultural, and practical factors. There isn't a definitive statistic on how often women revert to their maiden name after divorce, as it depends on individual preferences and circumstances. Some women choose to keep their ex-husband's last name for reasons such as maintaining consistency for their children, professional recognition, or simply because they've become accustomed to it. Others may opt to reclaim their maiden name as a symbol of independence or to distance themselves from their past marriage. There's no right or wrong choice, and each woman's decision is valid based on what feels most comfortable and empowering for her.

It mostly depends if most off her documentation is on her name shared with her ex-husband. It can become complicated chaging the name everywhere. But mostly it is seen that ladies do change their name. But everyone has a different opinion to their decisions, she must have her own reasons for it.

Hi, Hope you are well! Keeping the husbands surname depends on a lot of factors such as shared custody of kids, properties, investments, joint business and ventures. Some women keep it and others choose to drop it. Based on their personal situation a decision is made. And in such cases consulting a lawyer is important.
