Can certain spices or herbs be incorporated into meals to help alleviate menstrual cramps? @drsuruchi
Hi there, Yes, there are certain herbs and spices that may help with respect to menstrual cramps, however, if you are suffering from severe cramps, then, I'd suggest you to see a doctor, once. The herbs and spices that can be beneficial in alleviating period cramps are as follows. - Ginger - it reduces inflammation and can ease menstrual cramps. - Fennel- It contains a compound named as anethole which can help in reducing period pain and cramps. - Chamomile - This can be consumed as tea before bedtime. Chamomile is anti-inflammatory in nature. - Cinnamon-Cinnamon also happens to anti-inflammatory in nature and reduces the action of prostaglandins which are responsible for period cramps. Hence, little cinnamon consumption may help as per studies. - Peppermint- The menthol in peppermint can have an analgesic effect, and it can also act as a muscle relaxant. These herbs can work to alleviate period cramps but you need to consume a well-balanced diet for overall health :) Take care ✨

I sometimes experience [digestive issue] after eating certain foods. Can you help me identify potential triggers and suggest dietary modifications? @drsuruchi
Hi there, I hope you are well. Certain foods such as spicy foods, alcohol, chocolate, dairy products (to a certain extent), oily or fried foods, caffeine, salty foods, baked goods, salad dressings, fizzy drinks, citrus fruits, beans, legumes, cauliflower, cabbage, tomatoes can lead to digestive issues. Even raw garlic, and onion can cause cramping. How to tackle it? 1) Firstly try to rule out the triggers, you can start by eliminating a few foods listed above, one by one, and see if your symptoms are better or if the episodes have reduced. 2) Don't give large gap in between your meals. 3) Eat your food slowly and chew it well, eating in haste can be a big reason for indigestion as well. 4) Begin your day with a healthy meal, and avoid sugary cereals or a heavy unhealthy breakfast (cheese sandwiches, burgers, bakery items, etc). 5) Avoid overeating. I hope this helps :)

I''m craving Frenchfries a lot. Is it safe to indulge in moderation, or are there healthier alternatives I can try? @Dr.Surichi
Hi there, I hope you are well. It is okay to consume french fries in moderation once in a while, as cravings are natural and we need to address our cravings. However, maintain portion control, and avoid over-indulging in it :) You can also choose healthier options like baked sweet potato fries, carrot fries whenever you crave French fries a lot. But eating your favourite foods occasionally doesn't harm :) Overindulgence should be avoided. Take care.

Hi, I am feeling depressed because of my heavy weight. I am always teased by family members and friends as well. Feeling the weight of societal expectations about body image can be incredibly challenging and emotionally draining. How can individuals effectively manage societal pressures about weight, and what balanced approach do you recommend for those considered overweight?
Hi there I hope you are well. As a nutritionist, and clinical dietitian, I completely understand what you must have endured in the last few days/months/years. You need to talk it out with your family, and remember you are 'beautiful'. Take all this positively rather than taking it negatively.....and start working on your progress :) Stun them with your transformation. Here's what you can do to lose weight in the long run - - Always remember protein and fibre are important for weight loss, hence, these are to be an essential part of the diet. - Drink enough water for enhanced metabolic activity. - Avoid ultra processed, packaged, and refined foods. - Have your favourite foods once a while. - Ward of stress by meditation, and yoga. - Exercise for 30mins, at least 5 times a week. - Have a positive self-talk with yourself. - Start your mornings with positive affirmations, and some soaked almonds. - Stay more active throughout the day, and reduce screen time :) I hope this helps. Take care
