As caregivers we take pride in caring for others and feel a sense of honor or privilege in doing so. However how remarkable would it be if we could redirect that same love and compassion that we dole out to others toward ourselves.

Recognize when you need a break, set boundaries, and prioritize self-care. It's essential to balance caring for others with taking care of your own emotional well-being to avoid feeling drained.😊

what type of food should be avoided by a thyroid patient?
hina3d
Thyroid patients should generally avoid foods high in iodine, such as seaweed and iodized salt, as well as soy-based products and certain cruciferous vegetables like kale and broccoli, as they can interfere with thyroid function. It's always best for them to consult with a healthcare professional for personalized dietary advice.
Hi there, I hope you are well. If you've been suffering from Hypothyroidism, then it is important for you to do the following things. 1) You can consume Cruciferous vegetables like cauliflower, broccoli, cabbage, kale etc. but in the cooked form only. Avoid having it as a salad. These vegetables can be eaten once in 3-4 days. - Reduce the consumption of soy and soy based products. - Avoid packaged, ultra processed, and refined foods. - Keep a tab on your sugar and salt intake. - Go slow on the consumption of peanuts as well. - Please feel free to get in touch with me for a one-one consultation as I can guide you better on the same :) Take care ✨

My aunt is paralysed on the right side and lives under care. she cannot move, eat or do anything by herself. I often visit her to take care and I find myself wondering what is the purpose of life in care?
sikun1d
wow it's super
Hey there Firstly, it's very kind of you to support your aunt during her tough time. Purpose of life differs for everyone. We might be working to contribute to ourselves and our families, that gives us a sense of purpose. People who are under care may not have the same universal purpose but their focus might shift from working to being a part of the human experience. She might get to spend that time with you and loved ones and that alone is a huge comfort to harbour. Try helping her participate in something that makes her feel involved and a part of. This can boost her self esteem and self worth also reducing isolation and loneliness. This will also enable you to make wonderful memories with her.

How can I create a balanced and nutritious diet plan that supports both my thyroid health and overall well-being?
Hi Koushiki, I hope you are well. To support your thyroid health you require nutrients like Iodine, selenium, iron, zinc, Vitamin A, Vitamin D3, and Vitamin B12. These nutrients will also support your overall health. - You can get these foods from green leafy vegetables ( have it cooked), lean meat, eggs, dairy and dairy products, fresh fish ( avoid fried fish for it has higher amounts of salt in it) , sweet potato, pumpkin seeds, Brazil nuts, sunflower seeds, carrot, bell peppers, etc. - Additionally have Cruciferous vegetables such as cauliflower, cabbage, broccoli, kale in the cooked form only. - Go slow on consumption of soy and peanuts. - Include enough fibre and protein in your diet to ensure overall health. - Start your day with lukewarm water and a couple of soaked nuts. - Keep yourself active, and keep stress at bay. - Have mid-meals or healthy snacks to support your energy requirements. - Avoid ultra processed, packaged and refined foods . Take care ✨
Hi Kaushiki you can exclude cauliflower family and soya family in foods And include local seasonal fruits and vegetables with liberal cereals and protein moderate fats , enough hydration

What should I eat to help alleviate digestive issues commonly associated with thyroid disorders?
Hi there, I hope you are well. To help alleviate digestive issues, here's what you can do. - Include enough fibre in your diet, ensure to add cauliflower, broccoli, capsicum, kale, in cooked form and not the raw form. - Ensure to incorporate protein, keep your soy intake minimal. You can consume lean meat, paneer, yogurt, buttermilk but avoid red meat/pork. Yogurt and buttermilk are great for digestion. - Have Brazil nuts in the diet as these can reduce inflammation ( reduction of inflammation in the gut can alleviate digestive problems) - Drink enough water, at least 8-10 glasses/day. - Avoid packaged, ultra-processed and refined foods as these can affect your digestion, and lead to digestive issues. - Reduce your caffeine intake, and avoid alcohol, and aerated drinks and too much sugar can lead to digestive issues and discomfort. - Keep your salt consumption to minimal. - Eat in small quantity at a given time, and eat meals in portions. I hope this helps ! Take care :)

How can I manage symptoms like fatigue and weight gain through my diet with thyroid issues?
Hi there, I hope you are well. Ideally in hypothyroidism your metabolism is known to slow down. Here's what you can do. - Take your thyroid medications in the morning on empty stomach, and wait for an hour before consuming any other food item. - Have a healthy and wholesome breakfast with fibre, good fats, and protein. - Avoid skipping meals. - Try sleeping and waking up at the same time to reduce fatigue. - Eat a healthy lunch, and avoid consuming outside foods or packaged foods. - Get some exercise, keep yourself active throughout the day. - Take a quick nap in the afternoon after your meal, for better digestion and to ward off tiredness. - Drink water, as dehydration can lead tiredness. - Eat a light dinner, try to have a protein based dinner with lean meat, eggs, cottage cheese, and yogurt with some sauteed veggies. - Be careful about your alcohol and caffeine intake. - Meditate to reduce stress, and sleep well. I hope this helps! Take care :)

I take medication for my thyroid. Are there any foods or supplements that might interact with it? @NutritionistHudaShaikh
Hi there, I hope you are well. -Yes , certain foods such as soybean, walnuts, calcium, dietary fibre, calcium fortified foods must be avoided immediately after consuming your thyroid medications. You need to keep a gap of an hour or two before consumption of the same. -After consuming thyroid medications, keep a gap of at least 30mins- 1hr before consuming a meal. - Calcium, iron supplements, and antacids can interfere with the absorption of thyroid medications, and hence, you must consume these (only if suggested or needed) atleast 3-4hrs apart :) I hope this helps, take care :)
Hey avoid taking any kind of food or water before taking medicine (take it in empty stomach) After taking medicine avoid food and water intake for 1 hour Do not take any cruciferous vegetables (cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli) Take iodine rich foods such as iodised salt, fish, eggs, Greek yogurt
