Hey, Here are a few options for you to incorporate into your diet 1) fruits and vegetables are rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants which can help in reducing inflammation and menstrual cramps 2) Fibre rich foods such as whole grains can regulate blood sugar levels which can reduce mood swings and fatigue 3) healthy fats such as nuts and seeds, avocado, fatty fish etc can reduce period cramps due to its antiinflammatory properties 4) lean proteins can help you in supporting your muscle health and providing you with energy throughout the day 5) calcium rich foods like milk and milk products and non dairy fortified calcium foods can support the overall menstrual health 6) Magnesium rich foods can relax muscles and avoid cramping hence include almonds, pumpkin seeds, green leafy vegetables in your diet 7) Drink plenty of water to reduce bloating and water retention that usually happens in mensuration Hope it helps👍

Are there any dietary supplements you recommend to support my menstrual health based on my individual needs?
Hey there! 🌸 Looking to boost your menstrual health? Consider adding these essentials to your routine: Iron for replenishing lost blood, Vitamin B6 to ease those pesky PMS symptoms, Magnesium for calming those cramps, Omega-3 fatty acids to soothe inflammation, and don't forget Calcium for bone health and mood stability. Your body will thank you for the extra support!
hina8d
There is no restriction for your diet during your menstrual cycle. Nor are there any foods that you necessarily should eat, except for foods high in iron. Because of the blood loss, there is also some iron loss w/menstruation. Therefore, foods high in iron content can help replace the iron stores that women need. These foods can include dark chocolate in small amounts, molasses, and then green leafy veggies such as spinach, beef, turkey, etc. You can google for a more comprehensive list. Otherwise, no special diet is required.

My mom never told me about tampons but I recently heard about it through my group of friends. I did not want to ask them because I didn’t want to feel backward. What are they?? Can women of all age use them ?
Yes, any women who is menstruating can use tampon. Only one should be cautious while using it. Unlike a pad, it is placed internally, inside of the vaginal canal. They are made of rayon, or a blend of rayon and cotton, along with synthetic fibers. Depending on your flow, it can be kept inside for 6-8 hrs. Once inserted correctly, a tampon is held in place by the vagina and expands as it soaks up menstrual blood. However, in addition to menstrual blood, the tampon also absorbs the vagina's natural lubrication and bacteria, which can change the normal pH, increasing the risk of infections. So always cautious about changing it time to time. You can use pad/tampon/menstrual cup as per your need. But while playing sports, during swimming it's better to use tampon/menstrual cup. Tampons also are easy to store in a purse or pocket. Another advantage to tampons is that they can't be felt because they're inside the body.
hina8d
A tampon is a menstrual product designed to absorb blood and vaginal secretions by insertion into the vagina during menstruation. Unlike a pad, it is placed internally, inside of the vaginal canal. Once inserted correctly, a tampon is held in place by the vagina and expands as it soaks up menstrual blood. Any girl of any age can who is menstruating can use them, there’s no one age where it suddenly becomes ok to use them or it’s not ok to use them.

How can nutrition play a role in addressing common women’s health concerns such as menstrual irregularities, PMS symptoms, or menopausal transitions?
Regulating menstrual cycles with iron-rich foods. Easing PMS symptoms through magnesium and vitamin B6.Managing menopausal symptoms with phytoestrogen-rich foods like soy.
Na_Dia9d
For menstrual irregularities and PMS symptoms, maintaining stable blood sugar levels by eating balanced meals with complex carbohydrates, healthy fats, and lean proteins can help alleviate symptoms. Incorporating foods rich in omega-3 fatty acids, magnesium, and vitamin B6 may also be beneficial. During menopause, consuming foods rich in calcium and vitamin D helps maintain bone health. Phytoestrogen-rich foods like soy products can help alleviate hot flashes and other symptoms. Adequate intake of fruits, vegetables, and whole grains provides essential nutrients and supports overall health during this transitional phase. Additionally, staying hydrated and reducing caffeine and alcohol intake can help manage symptoms.

I am getting rashes from pads. What can I do to stop them?
If you have noticed rashes with one pad brand, it maybe helpful to try another. Another reason could also be using the pad for extended periods of time, which makes you more prone to rashes. Alternatives can include period panties or cloth pads which can help prevent rashes and are also eco-friendly as they are reusable. During your periods opt for loose cotton underwear and change it twice a day to limit sweat and rashes. If this doesn't subside with these simple changes, check in with a doctor to understand a possible underlying cause.
hina8d
Keep the affected area clean and dry, you can also apply a soothing cream or ointment that you can purchase over the counter. Ensure you're changing pads frequently to help prevent sanitary pad rash.

My boyfriend wants to have sex with me but I am on my periods. Can we do it??
In ancient times, it was said that a couple should not have sex during periods when woman is on her period. But From a modern medical point of view, sexual intercourse during menstruation is normal and not perversion. But it can be associated, although remotely, with undesirable pregnancy, the development of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) and possible endometriosis. To avoid pregnancy/infection one can use condom while doing it. But regularly indulging in period sex can be cause of retrograde menstruation and it can carry fresh pieces of endometrium which can get implantated outside uterus like on ovaries, uterine ligaments or even rectum. This is endometriosis. So take this into consideration.
Yes you can absolutely do it! Infact, periods can make sex more pleasureable too as period blood is a natural lubricant! Just make sure you are being safe: using protection if you are not planning a pregnancy and to remain safe from STIs as well. Proper communication and consent are important!

#PeriodTalk We all know from common knowledge that an ideal period lasts between 3-5 days. However, for some women periods can last for 7 days throughout their lives. This doesn't indicate that something is wrong. The ideal period length is the average you have for each period. A normal period day would be using 3-5 pads, or changing out your cup 3-4 times a day. More on the first couple of days when periods are usually heavier. If you have to use more than 5-7 pads during all days of your period and feel increasing fatigue it would be ideal to get it checked to ensure there is no cause for heavy bleeding and you don't have anemia as a result.

Can you recommend dietary adjustments to support my body throughout my menstrual cycle? This could include specific foods or nutrients to focus on during different phases
Throughout your menstrual cycle the key is a balanced diet. This becomes more important during your luteal phase where you might experience cravings resulting from hormonal fluctuations. Try to opt for smaller meals throughout the day, add plenty of fibre and protein to your meals, which will keep you full throughout the day and avoid eating processed food as much as possible. Preparing your meals weekly, stocking up on snacks such as fruits, nuts and yogurt, making sure you drink plenty of water during the day is often. sufficient to ensure you follow a healthy diet.
Hi there, I hope you are well. Here's how you can eat as per each phase of your menstrual cycle. 1) MENSTRUAL PHASE (1-3 -7days)- This is the phase when your endometrial lining is shed and the estrogen and progesterone levels are low. You need to eat foods rich in fibre, protein, good fats , and rich in antioxidants. Pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds, kidney beans, bell peppers, red- black grapes, berries are good to consume during this stage. - Follicular phase (3-7 until 12)- During this phase your Estrogen levels are high as there is development of follicles and magnesium levels are low. So, you must include berries, lean meat, lentils, pumpkin seeds, flaxseeds, avocado, broccoli, citrus fruits, oats, etc. - Ovulatory phase( 12-16)- During this phase there is release of an egg and hence, Estrogen levels are it's peak. Foods rich in fibre can help with increasing Estrogen levels. Salmon, grapes, berries, spinach, lean meat, muskmelon, lentils, sesame seeds, sunflower seeds are great options.

Ayurveda for women community profile picture
🗓 Menstrual Health

At its core, the connection between Ayurveda and Women health is rooted in the balance and harmony of the female body. The ancient Indian practice of Ayurveda recognizes that each woman has unique needs, and through mindful practices such as yoga, diet and lifestyle, it seeks to empower women to embrace their natural cycles.Ayurveda works to achieve balance by addressing the three doshas, or subtle energies that govern our bodies. These doshas are known as vata, pitta and kapha. Each dosha is associated with the elements of wind, fire, and water respectively and serve to regulate the physical body and the mind. When our doshas are in balance, we are healthy, vibrant and radiating peace. At a deeper level, Ayurveda looks at the physiological changes that happen in the body during our menstrual cycle. On a vata dosha day, for example, a woman may experience feelings of restlessness or anxiety. On a pitta day, she may have an increased appetite or feel irritable. And on a kapha day, she may be proneto fatigue or have difficulty concentrating. By acknowledging these nuances and adjusting her diet and lifestyle accordingly, a woman can learn to identify which foods will best nourish and restore her balance during the different phases of her cycle. Ayurveda Priests or holistic health practitioners are also available to guide women in developing a meaningful relationship with their menstrual cycle. Through such practices as yoga, meditation, massage, and breathwork, these professionals help women understand not only their body’s response to their monthly fluctuations, but also how to intuitively respond to them. Ultimately, Ayurveda provides a safe, holistic space for women to honour and celebrate their cycle as an important part of their emotional and physical wellbeing. By becoming more mindful and aware of the subtle changes that occur each month from one dosha to another, women are able to learn how to better nourish and care for their bodies .more
