Hey everyone, I am Nikita Dudani - practicing Psychotherapist and counselor. I specialise in working with children and adolscents and young adults. This group is a safe, warm, empathetic and understanding space where you are welcome to share, ask, and discuss anything related to mental health. Let us speak up, show up, and heal ourselves.
Curiosity is considered as a mental illness, then that's what causes people to ask a lot of questions. I don't think that wanting to know more is a mental illness. In fact, I'd say that failing to ask a lot of questions is a mental illness. There is a notation in our society that someone asking too many questions has some problem. Why is curiosity mixed with mental health? @nnikittadudannii

Intellectual curiosity is generally regarded as a positive and enriching trait that contributes to personal growth, cognitive development, and overall well-being. It is not considered a direct cause of mental illness or psychological problems later in life. In fact, intellectual curiosity is often associated with higher levels of engagement, creativity, and resilience. However, it is important to consider that excessive or unbalanced preoccupations with certain topics or intellectual pursuits can potentially have an impact on mental health. For instance, individuals who become excessively obsessed or preoccupied with certain subjects may neglect other important areas of their life, such as relationships, self-care, or responsibilities. This excessive focus can lead to social isolation, neglect of physical health, or difficulties in maintaining meaningful connections with others.

Curiosity itself is not a mental illness. It's a natural human trait that drives learning and exploration. However, excessive questioning or obsession with certain topics can sometimes be associated with mental health conditions like obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

tbh, as a practiconer i am hearing it for the first time that curiosity is mental health condition. IT IS NOT! being curious symbolizes an inquisitive mind.

I am a mother and an educator in charter schools and ABC Youth Foundation. I host several podcast it's a huge passion of mine and I also produce I strongly feel that empathy is the glue of humanity and without it what do we have for understanding one another and being kind toward one another is what keeps Us human it's what makes it work and without it what can possibly get better you must hold on to that and remember and show it where it's needed so that people can know what it is and be able to show that same to others connecting and growing with others is within the foundations of empathy that's how the world gets better so we can understand we don't have to directly know one another we must be that change and it starts with us, we must be the change we want to see!more
